Ginger Bones Men & Halloween Giveaway

Halloween wasn’t a big thing when I was growing up. TBH, I didn’t even know it existed out of the USA, until I moved to New Zealand 😛 Now that I have kids it’s just an opportunity to create more play activities for them. The following is just an adapted shortbread recipe, as only my husband likes ginger cookies. Ingredients: 1 & 1/2 cups standard flour 1/2 cup cornflour 3/4 cup icing sugar 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder 250g butter Queen Royal icing   Method: Preheat oven to 150* Cream the butter & icing sugar. Add sifted flour and cornflour. On a floured surface, roll out the dough to approximately 1cm…

    The 2015 TV debate

Ok, so I may be to blame for this debate. Maybe. Without totally thinking of the consequences, I may have mentioned to hubby that perhaps upgrading the TV, at some stage, would be nice. Something that would allow me to have lightbox or TV on demand on. Of course he took that to mean – buy a bigger better TV ASAP! sigh Our current TV we purchased when we first got married, some 8 years ago, for our shoebox sized house. So it’s not the latest thing on the block, and is probably a little too small for our new place. Shhhh don’t tell him I said that. So now,…

One-pot Banana Cake with Spicy Chai Icing

This is my go to recipe when we have bananas that are just too far gone for the kids n hubby to eat without complaining, but are perfectly fine to eat. TBH, I think they just complain so I do make this cake 😛. It can be done quickly with minimal dirtying of dishes – hence, one of my favourite recipes 🙂   Banana Cake Ingredients: 150g butter 3/4 cup sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla essence 2 cups flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 cup milk 1 cup mashed banana   Method: Preheat oven to 180* In a pot on the stovetop, melt butter.  Turn…

  • MUM STUFF

    I HATE shopping

That’s it. I give up! I hate shopping for clothes! For me, that is. I LOVE clothes shopping for my kids. I don’t go out shopping much with 2 kids bouncing around. It’s just not possible at times. But lately, nothing seems to fit right, or it looks like I’ve worn it a billion times. Ergh, so off we go shopping. My 2 main rants: Wwwhhhhyyy does EVERY shop need to follow the current trends? It’s either super tight or super loose (think Homer Simpson muumuu). Shiny fabric like you’re going clubbing later (Pfft not when my bedtime is by 10.30pm or I’m a zombie at 6am), or tshirt fabric…

    Lunchbox Days – An Introduction

It hit me, finally some might say, that my son is 4! Now less than a year till he can start school. So far making and feeding him lunch has been pretty simple. I make lunch just before lunchtime, and we eat it. On kindy days, I don’t need to make him lunch as it’s all included in the fees that we pay weekly. It suddenly struck me that I need to be able to make and pack lunches that he can store in his school bag for half a day before he, hopefully, eats it. When I was growing up, lunches were made by mum that morning before we…

    Ardmore Airport & Café

Ever since I can remember, this has been a favourite spot for my husband and I. It combines fresh air, airplanes, photography opportunities & good coffee. Always said to my husband, I would love to buy a hanger out there to create a weekend place 🙂 One can only dream aye? So of course, when my son was born it became one of his favourite places. I still remember the day he saw his first airplane take off. It was priceless! 🙂 Even though things are way busier now with two kids, we always manage to make it out here at least once a month; even in winter! You can…
