Day 3: Milk Shots & Cookies

Yay, day 3 of the 12 days of Canapés series 🙂 This one is less of a recipe, and more of an idea for you. Great for kids parties as a sweet / dessert canapé (just using plastic shot glasses for peace of mind :P) .   I used: Full cream lactose-free milk Puhoi Valley Real Belgium Chocolate Milk Mini Hokey Pokey Chocolate Cookies   What I did: Gather enough shot glasses, which will balance a cookie on its rim. Pour milk in glass Place on serving tray or table, then place cookie on top of glass   Enjoy! 🙂   Note: As with all my 12 days of Canapés…

LUNCHBOX TREATS,  OFF THE SHELF CANAPÉS

    Day 1: Easy Pinwheel Recipe

For me, it’s not a kids party unless pastry has made the table guest list 😛 Usually, it’s sausage rolls cos they’re loved by both kids & adults, but even then they can overstay their welcome. These pinwheels are so easy to make you could probably do it in your sleep! not advised though! 😛  There’s no pastry to make from scratch cos who with kids has time to do that? They’re even great as a quick lunchbox treat.   Ingredients: Puff Pastry sheets (I used New Way Flaky Puff Pastry sheets) – defrosted Mediterranean Dip – Chunky Sundried Tomato Cheese (I used a mix of Colby & Mozzarella) Hellers Shaved…

12 Off the Shelf Kid Friendly Canapés

If you’ve spent any time reading through my blog, you’d have noticed that I like my food 😛 If you haven’t been reading, go catch up. I’ll wait 😛 I like trying new foods & making up new combinations, as much as I hate cleaning up after being in the kitchen. Especially now that I’ve got two little ones running around. So now when it comes to making food when entertaining, I’m more of a “grab ingredients, throw it together, tada” sorta person. If it uses less than 10 standard ingredients (even better if it’s in my pantry already), I can get away with the least cleanup possible, and I…

    Traditions

Blending is almost always difficult ; be it your “traditional blended family” i.e 2 single parents with children coming together as a family, or blending by race/religion/culture. For my wee family, it’s a matter of the latter. See, I’m South African Indian and hubby is NZ European. Our race, religions and the culture we were brought up with are different. Yet we are very similar. So that our kids grow up with an understanding of both backgrounds, and I guess to show respect to each other’s ways, traditions are important to us. With our kids being so young (4 & 1), our traditions have evolved around them. When my son…
