A great, easy, no-cook, make ahead, summer canapé.   Ingredients: Bite size Tomatoes (I’ve used grape or cherry) Cheese (Caprese generally uses mozzarella or bocconcini, but I’ve used camembert because its more readily available, cheaper & most importantly, my kids eat it) Fresh basil leaves   Method: Cut the cheese you have chosen into cubes or pieces of similar size to your tomatoes Cut each tomato in half Thread the tomato, cheese & basil onto a food pick or skewer in the  following order: Basil, top half of tomato, cheese, bottom half of tomato Arrange on a platter   Enjoy! 🙂   Note: As with all my 12 days of…

  • Easy Pinwheels - 12 Days of Canapés

    Day 1: Easy Pinwheel Recipe

For me, it’s not a kids party unless pastry has made the table guest list 😛 Usually, it’s sausage rolls cos they’re loved by both kids & adults, but even then they can overstay their welcome. These pinwheels are so easy to make you could probably do it in your sleep! not advised though! 😛  There’s no pastry to make from scratch cos who with kids has time to do that? They’re even great as a quick lunchbox treat.   Ingredients: Puff Pastry sheets (I used New Way Flaky Puff Pastry sheets) – defrosted Mediterranean Dip – Chunky Sundried Tomato Cheese (I used a mix of Colby & Mozzarella) Hellers Shaved…

12 Off the Shelf Kid Friendly Canapés

If you’ve spent any time reading through my blog, you’d have noticed that I like my food 😛 If you haven’t been reading, go catch up. I’ll wait 😛 I like trying new foods & making up new combinations, as much as I hate cleaning up after being in the kitchen. Especially now that I’ve got two little ones running around. So now when it comes to making food when entertaining, I’m more of a “grab ingredients, throw it together, tada” sorta person. If it uses less than 10 standard ingredients (even better if it’s in my pantry already), I can get away with the least cleanup possible, and I…
